Cloud Cryptography and its Applicability in e-Government

Meeting legal requirements such as data protection regulations are one of the main obstacles for adopting cloud computing in e-Government. However, a lot of studies highlight that cloud computing could bring the public sector enormous cost benefits. To bypass this issue and to foster the broader adoption of cloud computing in e-Government, in this document different cryptographic technologies are surveyed, which could potentially help in fulfilling legal requirements using technical means. Nevertheless, main barrier for adopting these technologies is their maturity level, which makes it currently impossible to use these technologies in productive environments.
